If you’re heading home for the holidays or have family coming to town, here’s what you need to know about short-term rentals during the most wonderful time of the year.
📅 Book ASAP
The holiday season is one of the busiest times of year for Airbnbs and short-term rentals. At SoDak Stays for example, nearly all of our properties are booked over Thanksgiving weekend, with Christmas and New Year’s filing up quickly. Don’t wait on booking, or you might be too late!
💰 Expect higher prices and minimum stay requirements
With more people traveling and the demand for Airbnbs increasing during this time of year, prices are bound to be higher. Take note while booking that you may need to raise your budget to get the property you’re looking for. (Remember, you almost always save money when you book direct instead of through Airbnb).
And since the holidays are already busy for short-term rental property owners and managers, don’t be surprised if you encounter properties that have a two- or three-night minimum stay. This limits the amount of cleaning and inspections that take place between guest stays.
🥘 Double-check amenities for your holiday needs
If you’re planning holiday-specific activities at your Airbnb (cooking a large meal, opening gifts, etc.), make sure the property you’re booking has the necessary amenities such as a fully equipped kitchen and extra seating.
